Historic Festival June 23, 2012

For years, families have enjoyed the festivities as beautiful Bayfront Park plays host to Petoskey’s Historic Festival. Each June hundreds of people descend upon the historic train depot and enjoy the ever popular “Taste of the North” as they sample a wide assortment of offerings from popular local restaurants. Lake Michigan provides a breathtaking backdrop for the festival.

Local musicians and performers entertain throughout the day. A wide range of activities for families and children keep folks busy for hours. The Little Traverse Regional Historical Society will once again sponsor a silent auction.

2011 Event Highlights
There are lots of new surprises in store this year. This year's activities will include: a silent auction from local merchants, Taste Of The North food sampling, an exhibtion by the Michigan Flywheelers, children's petting zoo, a performance by the Northern Lights Irish Dancers, musical entertainment, and a wine tasting.

Entertainment Stage – sponsored by Petoskey Area Visitors Bureau

The entertainment stage will feature the following great performers:
10:00 a.m. - The Northern Michigan Lights Chorus (a chapter of Sweet Adelines International )
11:00 a.m -. Northern Michigan Youth Chorale
12:00 p.m. - An Irish ceili performed by the Northern Lights Irish Dancers
1:00 p.m. - Dr. Goodhart’s Home Remedy
2:00 p.m . - Rob Johnson , acoustic guitar.

Activities from 10am to 3pm, unless otherwise noted:

  • A huge exhibition by the Antique Flywheelers of Michigan;
  • Spinning demonstration;
  • Kookie the Clown from 11am to 1pm, balloon twisting and face painting;
  • A petting zoo, presented by 4H;
  • Giant game boards provided by Grandpa Shorter’s;

Our silent auction features items from stores, businesses, organizations and services in our area. Your support of the silent auction provides much needed funding for the Historical Society and the History Museum. Our thanks to Mackinaw Trail Winery for providing a free wine tasting during the auction.
