Charles C. Beahan
Charles Beahan was born in Hector, New York on April 21, 1839, the ninth of ten children. His parents were Matthew and Mary (Fossett) Beahan. His great-grandfather was General Morrison, a member of George Washington's military staff during the Revolutionary War. In 1846 the family moved to Flint, Michigan, where they farmed and operated a grist mill.
Charles was educated in Genesse County schools and helped on the family farm. He moved to Missouri and operated his own farm for a few years before moving again, this time to Sioux City, Iowa. There he organized and operated the Sioux City Nursery & Seed Company.
In 1874 he married Ada Darling, who died in Sioux City in 1890. They had three children.
Later, he married Eliza Eldridge of Flint, Michigan.
In 1893 he moved to Petoskey, where he partnered with Lou S. Darling in operating Darling & Beahan. They sell seeds, general produce, agricultural implements, and carriages.
He was a member of the board of park commissioners of Petoskey, and was a Mason.
