Frank Fochtman
Frank Fochtman was born in Pennsylvania on April 24, 1871, the fourth of twelve children. His parents were Henry and Elizabeth Fochtman. They moved to Emmet County in 1881 to try farming, but moved into Petoskey a few years later and opened a saloon.
Frank attended public and parochial schools in Petoskey and his first job was as an expressman. He was in the saloon business with his father until he bought him out in 1897. He operated his grill cafe with a neighboring palm garden at 438 East Lake Street.
Frank was a member of the Petoskey Lodge No 629, B.P.O.E. He married Mary Sexton in 1896.
