George W. McCabe
George W. McCabe was born in East Jordan, Michigan on February 22, 1871. His parents were Thomas M. and Anna (Ryan) McCabe. His older brother, Albert, was a magistrate in the Philippines. George attended the Ferris Institute in Big Rapids, Michigan. He then returned to northern Michigan where he served as assistant postmaster in Petoskey under Philip Wachtel. He also served one term as city clerk. He represented the Third Ward as an alderman for four years. He was a member of the City Charter Revision Committee and the secretary of the Emmet County Fair Association.
Mr. McCabe married Georgia McKinley on December 27, 1905. They had three children: Albert, Alice, and Thomas.
He was a partner in Bump & McCabe Hardware, and a member of the Elks Lodge.
