Jeanne Caskey Chichester
Jeanne Chichester was born in Allegan, Michigan, the second of five children. Her parents were Charles W. and Edith (Hunt) Chichester. Her father was a contractor who later moved to Seattle, Washington.
Jeanne married Leon Chichester in 1900. They lived at 619 Lake Street.
She was the president of the Treble Clef Club and a member of the Emmet County Suffrage Association.
In February 1913, she told the Suffrage Association that if she had to choose between suffrage and the Local Option (prohibition), she would choose the Local Option as the more important issue. She sang at Bay View for Petoskey Night on July 22, 1914. On January 14, 1918, she and Mrs. Welling attended the 32nd annual Equal Suffrage Convention in Detroit. She sang the Star Spangled Banner at the Woman Suffrage Conference held in Petoskey in May 1918 and at the Mother's Meeting for Sheridan school that same month.
