The Burns Clinic was founded in 1931 by Dr. Dean Burns. When he was an intern in Chicago, he was invited to join the Mayo Clinic, but instead returned to Petoskey with a goal of attracting medical specialists to the area. The clinic was closely associated with Little Traverse Hospital. In the image below, Dr. Burns is laying the cornerstone of the new clinic building.
