After many years, we have retired Taste of the North.

Historic
Festival

The Historic Festival began in 1980 as a five-day extravaganza involving several area organizations. Joe McCarthy was the first festival director. The Michigan Travel Bureau provided a $10,000 grant to get the festival running. Local Jaycees held fundraisers for the festival. Many events were historical in nature, but others were not. In 1990, the festival was called Festival of Classics. It lasted nine days and took place in Boyne City, Charlevoix, Petoskey, and Harbor Springs.

Festival Events

Some of the events at the Historic Festival over the years have included a hot-air balloon display, an antique quilt show, foot races and relays, a giant tug-of-war across the bay, and parades.
